Augustdorf

The municipality of Augustdorf is located in the northern Senne and lies on the southern slope of the Teutoburg Forest.

The municipality outside the military training area belongs to the Upper Senne and is characterised by extremely dry sandy soils. The heather, which can still be found in large stands in the municipality, thrives particularly well on this subsoil. 

Augustdorf has a strong military character with a barracks of the German armed forces, the military training area Stapel and large parts of the military training area Senne. On the “Dünenpfad” nature lovers have the opportunity to discover extensive forest areas, sand dunes and open heathland in Augustdorf.
