Lage

The city of Lage is located in the Werre Valley, in the transition from the Ravensberger Hügelland to the Lippischen Bergland. The southern urban area extends to the ridges of the Teutoburg Forest and borders on the northern part of the Senne.

The city has a wide range of options for those looking for relaxation: Lage became the “City of Sports” by means of the construction of an athletics stadium, the Hörste district is a State-recognised health resort and the brickwork museum bears witness to the local cultural and historical significance of the masonry trade. In the centre of Lage there is a sugar factory which makes its mark on the city landscape. In autumn, when sugar is extracted from sugar beets in the region, a hauntingly sweet smell can sometimes be perceived far outside the city.

The city also has a lot to offer for nature enthusiasts: The “Holzweg” runs through the valleys and over the ridges of the Teutoburg Forest, along the military training area Stapel. Hikers directly experience the border between the two landscape areas Teutoburg Forest and Senne.
