The ”Ems-Erlebnisweg”

The ”Ems-Erlebnisweg”

If you want to experience the source of one of the largest rivers in Germany, the “Ems-Erlebnisweg” offers a natural experience. From the Ems Experience World, the hiking trail leads through pine forests and along the border to the military training area in a southerly direction. On the route there are numerous activities for young and old, for example a weather station, a life-size slide rule and life-size tonewoods. The route is crowned with the Senne horses, which spend the summer months in the Moosheide.

Past the horses the path goes to the sources of the Ems. A wooden walkway leads through the source area, where water gushes out of the ground in many places. Those who like to get an overview can look down on the sources of the Ems from a viewing platform. The hiking trail leads back to the Ems Experience World along fields and through pine forests.

The “Ems-Erlebnisweg” is approx. 4.9 km long. The duration of the hike is approx. 1:30 h.

Experience senses on the ”Ems-Erlebnisweg”

A special natural treasure of the Senne awaits you on the “Ems-Erlebnisweg”. The sources of the Ems are a visual highlight. But they also offer an experience for other senses. Those interested in nature are led across the spring area via a wooden walkway. Notice how the temperature changes. The closer you get to the sources, the cooler it will be. Now close your eyes and listen to the gentle splashing of the Ems, which is still small here and which will grow into one of the largest rivers in Germany.

Sights on the ”Ems-Erlebnisweg”

The Ems Experience World is the highlight of the experience tour and is well received by the whole family. Here, the topic of water is conveyed in a playful way. The indoor adventure course offers an overflight over the Ems and provides information about nature and the people on the Ems. The adventure garden is a great adventure for children of all ages who can let springs gush here. You can discover the natural treasures of the northern Moosheide along the “Ems-Erlebnisweg” via the natural history trail (Nordschleife). These include the Senne horses and the sources of the Ems. An elevated viewing platform offers a view of the source area. A wooden walkway leads nature enthusiasts directly to the source area. The individual stations can be called up on the Internet. It is recommended to download the flyer here in advance.
